I was at a mall in Chicago a couple of weekends ago and as I walked past a store I noticed that “Mad Men” is now a fashion. That’s really cool. I worked all this time to get where I am and realize I missed cool by fifty years. At least I’ll admit that’s what I thought until I saw the new Avalon.
This car is gorgeous. Sleek lines with great colors and a perfectly comfortable interior. It takes me back to a day when the Sunday drive was a weekly looked forward to tradition instead of the trip I know take to see the folks back down from the city. When is spoke with a North Shore Toyota dealership they weren’t able to tell me anything about the suit I wanted, but they knew everything about the new Avalon.
The new Avalon isn’t made to compete against German engineering and it certainly is not going to set the world on fire. What this new beauty will do is give the driver in control a smooth and satisfying ride through their daily life to whatever destination they may be headed.
I ran into a Chicago used Toyota dealership to see what my trade would be worth and was really surprised when they came back with a number better than the one I had in mind. The combination of my expectations being met with my new Avalon and exceeded with the trade in on my old junk have left me looking forward to my next Sunday drive. Sure my mother’s bread is not what it used to be, but the best smell next to new car is my mother’s baked bread. Now I start every week with a great smell and a sweet new ride to enjoy it in.
Right now life is good and I owe no small part of it to Toyota. They get great ratings on crash tests, gas mileage, and when the next new thing I just have to have comes around, they also hold their resale value like champs. It’s nice to know that every once and a while life can slow down to a simple time when women were happy and men were mad.
