Star Safety System a major part of Toyota’s focus

After the recent recall of millions of units with unintended acceleration and braking issues, including the Chicago 2010 Rav4, Toyota has been paying a bit closer attention to safety features and accident prevention when manufacturing new vehicles. As a result, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. Inc. (TMS) is promoting its Star Safety System, a combination of five safety technologies to come standard with all new Toyota models, which the company intends to advertise in their new marketing campaign. Sales representatives at the Chicago used Camry dealership are more than happy to do their part to help spread Toyota’s message.

Toyota’s new marketing campaign will include television, print, online, radio, and outdoor advertisements featuring Toyota owners and engineer discussing safety and quality in Toyota models. The Star Safety System includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist, all of which are included in Toyota’s upcoming models such as the 2010 Rav4 in Chicago.

I wasn’t too sure exactly what each part of this system entails, and some consumers may share my feelings of unfamiliarity. So I did some research, and found out some actually very interesting – and reassuring – details about the Star Safety System. The Vehicle Stability Control helps prevent wheel slip and loss of traction by reducing engine power and applying brake force to the wheels that need it. This feature can prove to be very useful during slippery driving conditions. The Traction Control can help the driver maintain control of their vehicle during wet, icy, loose, or uneven roads by applying brake force to the spinning wheel or wheels, with the help of TRAC sensors. The one feature that I am familiar with is the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), which basically helps prevent brakes from locking up by “pulsing” brake pressure to each wheel in order to ensure the driver doesn’t lose control in emergency-braking situations. The Electronic Brake-force Distribution works with the ABS technology, and helps to keep the vehicle stable and balanced when braking. Lastly, the Brake Assist is intended to detect sudden braking and add the full amount of pressure to help prevent a collision.

With all these safety features, who wouldn’t feel secure behind the wheel of a Toyota? For more details about Toyota’s Star Safety System or any other standard features that come with specific Toyota models, interested shoppers can visit the Chicago used Camry dealership to obtain more information.
